Established in 1984 as a parent support group for families challenged by Down syndrome in the Hamilton, Ontario area, The Down Syndrome Association of Hamilton has evolved into an active and reputable organization. We provide information, education, networking and social opportunities, and support for our members, their friends and families, and the community at large.
The DSAH is an association which works toward creating a society in which all people with Down syndrome are welcomed members. We believe that all children with Down syndrome should have the choice of an inclusive education. Adequate supports must be provided according to each individual’s needs to ensure an equitable opportunity for success.
The Association envisions a society in which each person with Down syndrome is afforded dignity and respect, and is honoured and supported.
Our goal is for people with Down syndrome to be able to make real life choices, to work for equal pay, and to have access in adulthood to decent and appropriate homes which they are able to call their own.
As a charitable organization, we rely on donations from the public, individuals and businesses, to fund our work. Our primary fundraiser is our annual golf tournament. If you would like to support our the Down Syndrome Association of Hamilton with a donation, please click here.

Hey I am a mother of a beautiful little angel with Downs. She will be three in November and has started preschool this september. She loves it and has a lot of support but I am wondering how I can get in touch with the association and other parents facing the same daily issues as myself and the rest of my family. I am noticing behavioural issues with my other daughter who is 4 which I believe may be an attention thing due to Haylee(daughter with Downs) getting more attention. Look forwrd to speaking to you soon!
Jess, We’re happy to connect with you, and offer any help we can. For starters, we have a Halloween social coming up on October 27th which would be a good way to meet a number of parents and their kids both with and without DS. There will be lots of opportunities there to ask questions, and bounce things off of people. I’ll let people know what the location and time will be (It’s looking right now like it’s going to be at Eastgate Fortinos in the party room, but I’ll confirm that.
In the meantime, if you would like one of our more experienced parents to pay you a visit, we have a ‘new’ parent group of volunteers (I know Haylee isn’t new, but that’s ok!) one of whom would be thrilled to come out and meet you and your daughter (and any other family members who would like to be there).
Let me know, and I can put you in touch with one of our volunteers to set that up. Othewise, I have added your name to our email contact list, so you will get the regular emails about events etc. Thanks for reaching out! Jason Allen President DSAH
